The Birth of True Photography by Ellis...

2 chicks with cameras with a mission to survive...

In March 2011, my husband, Ricky's health started plunging. In July, while in the hospital, the medicines he was on caused an allergic reaction mimicking a stroke that forced him into ICU for almost 48 hours. After that hospital visit, it was not long until he lost his job because of his health. He was in & out of the hospital 8 times the first year. Not one doctor or specialist could diagnose him. For nearly two & a half years he went undiagnosed without relief from any medicines. A local specialist finally started accepting new patients, so I got him a referral for an appointment. At Ricky's first appointment, this specialist diagnosed him with gastroparesis. FINALLY!!! We now had a diagnosis. So we started fighting disability. Meanwhile, we had actually hit below poverty.

I had always taken an interest in photography. Shooting anything & everything. I shot my family & friends, & any other subject that I could find...

Dakota also shared this interest. However, she loved photographing landscapes & scenery. At that time, she did not find an interest in photographing people.

In January 2014, Dakota came to me (because she saw the struggling we were doing) & said let's buy 2 cameras with our tax money & get started on a photography business. I was very skeptical but she had a GREAT business plan. She had actually put a lot of time into a business plan. She had a name & a slogan ~ True Photography by Ellis... At True, we don't change you, we help you find yourself... We bring out the 'U' in True. Over the years, we have added ...where precious memories are captured & developed.

In 2018, Dakota ventured out on her own. She was forming her own family & with that she formed her own business.

So now at True Photography by Ellis, you get a chick with a camera with a mission to survive. And, my friend, survive is exactly what I did.

We have had some great times & some not so good times, but we are very blessed by God that we have all we need.

As parents, we always teach our children to give... Do you know it is extremely hard to give when you have absolutely nothing to give... By the grace of God, we actually give more than we get. Some may not believe that. But our cherished clients know it's true. Our clients become family in every sense of the word. We are blessed to have each & every one.

Without our clients, we are nothing...
